I also have several nvidia shield boxes in the house doing direct play 4k with over 40Mbps. It's an older 4th gen dual xeon server with 32 cores and an Geforce 1080 graphic card power transcoding. I have 1.2Gbps internet connection where the server is hosted. • Version Version 1.12 (Official build) beta (64-bit).
  • This is a case where I was streaming Plex at the same time (Plex is the red), and you can see how much worse Stash got.ĭesktop (please complete the following information): It only dropped when I restarted my container. I closed my tabs within 1 minute but it continued. You can see once I started my repro, it instantly spiked. In fact, I can be running 3 simultaneous streams on Plex at the same time for higher bitrate files and still have Plex use less CPU when reproducing this issue It should work like Plex which never gives me this type of issue when transcoding the quality down during streaming. It should probably also be able to be throttled in general to not utilize 100% as it is not necessary. It should not continue after the video is stopped. Live transcoding should only use the resources required to transcode while you stream.
  • Close all tabs, continue to monitor CPU usage.
  • Close the active tab and repeat with another one.
  • In a tab, start playing the video and drop the quality to trigger live transcoding.
  • Open up multiple tabs (does not seem to always happen if only a single tab is open).
  • I can reproduce this effectively with the below, but unsure if you will

It is directly attributable to Stash and even happens when streaming files with less than 10mbps to 720p which isn't very CPU intensive.Įven more concerning, when closing all Stash tabs, the high CPU usage persists until I restart the container despite nothing being streamed (and ideally not being transcoded) I have a Threadripper 2950x, so that is an insane amount to hit 100%. Quickly, my CPU hits 100% and everything comes to a grinding halt.

So I sometimes open up multiple Stash tabs and drop the quality when streaming from one of them. Whenever I am streaming from Stash remotely, I sometimes need to drop the video quality because of my remote upload. This issue has been something I have noticed for months now but am still struggling to effectively capture.
